MnDOT preaching safe Halloween driving

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KNSI) The Minnesota Department of Transportation is reminding drivers to be extra careful on roads and highways tonight due to the increased amount of pedestrian traffic on Halloween night.

MnDOT says drivers should slow down in residential neighborhoods and around school zones, scan the road and sides of the road ahead for pedestrians, and avoid distractions--which means putting away your cell phone.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says 27 pedestrians have been killed on Minnesota roads so far this year--compared to 22 at this time a year ago.
