MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KNSI) University of Minnesota women's basketball coach Pam Borton has announced the signings of two players who will be joining the Gophers program in 2013.
Joanna Hedstrom of Minnetonka and Stabresa McDaniel of Dallas, Texas signed National Letters of Intent Wednesday.
Hedstrom is a 6 foot 1 guard whose been a member of the varsity basketball team at Minnetonka since the eighth grade. The two-time team captain went over the 1,000 career point mark as a junior.
McDaniel is a 5 foot 10 guard from Skyline High School in Dallas. She averaged 15.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game as a junior, and was an All-District and All-Region selection.
Borton said, "not only are they hard workers, but they are great in the classroom and chose the University of Minnesota for all of the right reasons. I wish that we had these two players this year, because they will bring depth to our guard position and have an immediate impact on our program."
